Volunteer Opportunities

Our current volunteer opportunities fall under two main categories:

Food security which is based through the Mount Paul Food Centre where there are several areas that community members can become involved in from growing and harvesting through to cooking and Child Minding which includes assisting staff while parents are in programming.

For more information on the specific opportunities please click on the headings below:

Volunteers can assist in gardening the Food Centre garden or in a public park. Regular garden maintenance is required.

Volunteers are trained to assist in a culinary program that runs twice a month on Thursday evenings for 4 hours. The program focuses on nutritious preparation and preservation of healthy, locally sourced food.

Volunteers help organize and raise public awareness about the benefits of the program. Programs run for 12 consecutive weeks for three hours each session.

Volunteers are utilized for the delivery of preordered meals. Routes are divided into the North Shore and South Shore of Kamloops and deliveries are every Tuesday and Thursday.

Volunteers assist in food pick up points and bring the donations to the Food Centre for program use. Pick up are scheduled at the end of the Farmers Market, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Volunteers are required to assist staff members when parents attend programming. The volunteer commitment is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am until 12 pm. Program is offered for 8 consecutive weeks, Jan to March, April to June or Sept to Nov.

For more information regarding programming visit our program pages or contact Dawn Christie, Community Resources Manager at the Mount Paul Food Centre by phoning (236) 421-1011.
