 Kamloops Early Language and Literacy Initiative (KELLI)

KELLI 2The Kamloops Early Language and Literacy Initiative is comprised of a partnership of early childhood professionals, community members and parents, all with a commitment to building early language and literacy skills in preschool children. KELLI provides a continuum of early literacy information and programs for families with children from birth to age 5 in Kamloops. Interior Community Services is the host agency for  KELLI. Programs offered by KELLI include; Parent-Child Mother Goose Program, You Make the Difference (YMTD), Friday Family Fun with Literacy Nights, Family Literacy Activities, and ABC Family Literacy Day.

Literacy Outreach

Street SchoolStreet School is an adult continuing education program designed for learners who are unlikely to attend school in a structured or traditional academic setting.  Street School provides an opportunity for students to learn basic literacy skills and acquire accredited high school courses that can be used towards a grade 12 diploma.  The school offers individual instruction, self-esteem building, one to one tutoring, flexible hours and a hot lunch program.  In addition to academics students will have the opportunity to receive additional support in accessing community resources and services if needed. Street School is offered in partnership withTwin River Education Center and School District No. 73.
