Counsellors meet with families to create a safe, compassionate and dignified working relationship to help family members:
- Clarify needs
- Connect with their strengths and wisdom
- Increase self-awareness
- Share and identify helpful perspectives, skills and actions
- Access further supports
Generally, families are supported in strengthening family relationships and increasing healthy communication patterns while possibilities are explored for addressing the issues presented. Counsellors employ various strategies in working with families: Family Systems Theory is a key method utilized.
Who is Eligible?
Families with children under the age of 19 and who don't have access to other benefits, such as Employee Assistance Benefits (EAP/EFAP), are eligible. Counselling is available for individuals, families and couples.
The nature of the program is not designed to meet the unique needs of children under 12 years of age. Referral & resource information can be provided if seeking counselling for young children.

The ICS In-Office Counselling Program is offering services in person in our 765 Tranquille Road office, over Microsoft Teams and through telephone sessions. If you are coming to see one of the counsellors in the office, please be aware of our office Covid safety protocols (listed below). If you have any questions or concerns please contact your counsellor directly. We are following WCB recommendations to create a safe place for everyone.
Please do not come to the office if you have any Covid-like symptoms (if your counsellor has any symptoms they will not go into the office either).
We cannot have anyone wait inside at this time so please arrive right AT your session time. If you are dropping someone off, you will need to wait for them outside as we need to keep the number of people in the office as low as possible.
There is hand sanitizer just inside the door. Please sanitize when you come in & again before you leave.
We are still requiring you to wear your mask in the building and while you are doing counselling, your counsellor will have their mask on too. In order to keep physically distanced, sessions are being held in a larger office space.
We sanitize highly touched surfaces frequently.
You will be asked a list of Covid screening questions prior to your session/when you arrive at the office.
Your name & phone number will be recorded with the front Administration staff in case there is a need to do contact tracing.
Thank you for your patience as we all try to work together to keep everyone as safe as possible.
